As the name suggests, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is used as the blasting media but the process differs significantly from Vapour or Dry blasting. The soda crystals exit the nozzle at an extremely high speed and on impact with the item to be cleaned, explode, lifting away the coating to be removed. The process is virtually non-abrasive which opens its uses tremendously on “softer” materials such as steel car body panels without causing heat distortion, GRP panels, plastics, timber, etc. as well as both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Soda blasting also benefits from the soda being a natural degreaser and will not damage seals etc., and the fact that the items can be washed with water to remove any excess soda as it readily dissolves and is environmentally green.
- Motorcycle fuel tanks (steel, plastic or GRP)
- Aluminium pistons, crankcases, barrels etc.
- Timber renovation i.e. furniture etc.
- Kitchen equipment
- Stone renovation i.e. statues and removal of graffiti
All components should be degreased and as clean as possible when received please. Should heavily soiled components be received, there may be an additional charge for cleaning before blasting.
BMB will notify the customer of any damage found to items during a pre-blasting visual check, and of any damage found after blasting.
